Mobile Firefox blocks trackers (and thus most ads) if you use Private Browsing. Try seeing if you still run into this stuff with that browser.
Granted, I’ve never run into that sort of ad using Chrome anyhow.

Not sure if it was a gawker site but, I was on the one site on my phone and as I went to scroll, the ad scrolled into view and had to continue scrolling to get rid if it, it took 6 scrolls to rid of it. A scrolling ad that is a popup and reduces your scroll rate until you pass it, unbelievable.
